the bandaged place – READING april 3rd
An emotional rollercoaster on healing and change
Jonah is a dancer, for the moment caught in an immobilized limbo as he tries to heal body and soul from what his ex-boyfriend Ruben put him through. At the same time he’s trying to become a better dad to Ella who’s been living with her great grandma Geraldine ever since she was born. Jonah crosses paths with Ella’s dance teacher Sam – a glimmering hope for something new is lit. But when Ruben keeps coming around with his velvet voice it’s hard, so very hard, to stay strong and resist.
“The Bandaged Place” is a story about dealing with patterns – inherited and acquired ones. Why is it often so challenging to put insight into practice? To actually start doing the things we know would benefit ourselves and those around us – instead of those that drag us down? The play world premiered in November 2022 at Roundabout Theatre Company, New York.
