Charlotte has been a mother for nineteen years, a wife for three decades, and a respectable community member her entire life. Recently however, a deep and upsetting stain has begun spreading over her seemingly spotless life. Her son is away for an unspeakable reason and she finds herself re-examining not only her responsibility as a parent but also her confining marriage with Doug. This new, questioning spirit is partly inspired by her new friendship with Joey, a young man at the center where she starts volunteering. Step by step she grows bolder in her new beliefs, leading to disruptive consequences.
The play world premiered in New York 2019 to great acclaim from audience and press. It became critic's pick in The New York Times:
”A beautifully observed, richly compassionate new drama.” – The New York Times
