Varje tisdagskväll förvandlas Bens vardagsrum till en färgglad värld av vänskap och respekt: En grupp vuxna My Little Pony-fans – bronies och pegasisters – träffas för att i full kostym rollspela fram nya äventyr för Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash och deras vänner. Men oroväckande moln tornar upp sig på deras regnbågsprydda himmel. Ute i verkligheten tar en grannsamverkansgrupp till allt mer ljusskygga metoder för att ”bibehålla lugn och ordning” i området. Rädsla och paranoia sprider sig bland vännerna och hotar att omkullkasta deras fridfulla gemenskap.

Eric John Meyers komedi The Antelope Party är en träffande skildring av hur även de mest fridfulla själar kan riskera att svepas med av våldsamma strömningar. Pjäsen hade urpremiär i Chicago 2018 och blev efter sin New York-premiär 2021 utsedd till ”critic’s pick” i The New York Times.

Every Tuesday night Ben’s apartment turns into a colorful world of friendship and respect: A group of adult My Little Pony fans – bronies and pegasisters – gather in elaborate costumes to role play the latest adventures of Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash and their pony friends. But ominous clouds from the real world are gathering on their star-spangled sky. A neighborhood watch brigade starts patrolling the streets, causing fear and paranoia to creep into the circle of friendship – threatening to overthrow the pony pact completely as the situation escalates.  

The Antelope Party by Eric John Meyer is a clever comedy exploring how even the most peaceful of souls might get swept away by currents of fear and violence. The play world premiered 2018 in Chicago and was selected as “critic’s pick” in The New York Times after the New York premiere in 2021.
