THE ANTELOPE PARTY

Every Tuesday night Ben’s apartment turns into a colorful world of friendship and respect: A group of adult My Little Pony fans – bronies and pegasisters – gather in elaborate costumes to role play the latest adventures of Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash and their pony friends. But ominous clouds from the real world are gathering on their star-spangled sky. A neighborhood watch brigade starts patrolling the streets, causing fear and paranoia to creep into the circle of friendship – threatening to overthrow the pony pact completely as the situation escalates.
The Antelope Party by Eric John Meyer is a clever comedy exploring how even the most peaceful of souls might get swept away by currents of fear and violence. The play world premiered 2018 in Chicago and was selected as “critic’s pick” in The New York Times after the New York premiere in 2021.
”Meyer’s story about a group of lonely outcasts reminds us that acceptance and community can indeed be magical — but sometimes magic can be dark.” — Time Out New York
"Meyer has an undeniable flair for illustrating how group dynamics shift once the fear factor enters the room…” — Chicago Tribune
