Six times a year we do public readings of new plays and we’re always looking for actors interested in taking part! At Playhouse our focus is newly written plays by American and British playwrights and our readings are always performed in English directly from the original script. (For our main productions however, we translate the plays and perform them in Swedish.)
Qualifications:
You need to have some form of acting education as well as acting experience from stage work. You also need to be very comfortable with acting in English – we preferably see that you have previous experience from working in English and/or living in an English speaking environment for a longer time.
Speaking Swedish is not necessary to apply.
How and why:
We rehearse for a day and then perform the reading before the audience that same evening. A daily wage is paid for taking part.
By giving readings we get to share a couple more of our recent favorite plays with our audience, and we also get the opportunity to see how the play resonates with them; if it could be a potential play for one of our future main productions. Last but not least we also enjoy meeting and getting to know more actors!

In that email you’ll find info on the play, the characters and which actors we’re looking for. If you find a character that fits you, you’re then very welcome to send us an application. In the email you’ll also find info on what to include in your application.
We’re always asking interested actors to include a showreel or voice recording of their choice in English when they apply, it helps us a lot in the casting process. So if you don’t already have such material, that could be a good place to start while you wait for our next email. 🙂 Doesn’t need to be fancy, just a simple voice recording with your phone works fine!
